Community Events |
Event Description: |
Join us for celebrating the 200th birthday of Ulysses S. Grant with a variety of free activities and presentations.
General Grant (Stan Prater) will welcome visitors as they arrive for the presentations at 10 am and 11:30 am. Park Ranger Nick Sacco and Ulysses S. Grant Association board member John Samson will each give a talk on Grant in the park’s theater. From 9 am – 11:30 am Suzanne Corbett, food historian and food ways interpreter, will engage visitors in a casual conversation on period cakes and table etiquette in the dining room of White Haven. Throughout the day you can help make cards for veterans in Missouri veterans’ homes, in honor of Grant’s bicentennial. That evening, the Independent Silver Band will perform on the park’s ground for a free, one-hour concert, beginning at 6:30 pm. This bicentennial program is presented in partnership with the Ulysses S. Grant Association/Mississippi State University. |
