Midwest Transit Conference Business
Event Description:
The Missouri Public Transit Association, along with the Iowa Public Transit Association and Kansas Public Transit Association, today announced that registration is now open for the 2021 Midwest Transit Conference being held from Sept. 7 to 9 at the Mariott St. Louis Grand Hotel in St. Louis. This three-day event provides an opportunity for transit professionals, stakeholders, elected officials and interested citizens from throughout the tri-state area to share innovative ideas and best practices for furthering public transit accessibility, safety and equity. Registration is available at www.mopublictransit.org. A virtual, one-day admission is also available on Sept. 8 for those interested in participating in a hybrid experience or are unable to attend in person.

The 2021 Midwest Transit Conference will kick-off with an intensive learning session on Problem Passengers and De-Escalation, presented by Lieutenant Ray Hassett. He has over 25 years of law enforcement experience and is an FBI trained Hostage Negotiator. Scott Bogren, who is the executive director of the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA), has 30 years of industry experience and is a daily transit user, will speak to the Future of Transit Funding, while Jeff Nelson, a 35-year leader of the public transit industry who specializes in urban design, land use planning and economic development and currently serves as the chair of the American Public Transportation Association will present What Does the Future of Transit Look Like? The Vision, The Plan, The Cost. There will also be a variety of breakout sessions, panel discussions and mobile workshops, allowing participants to get out of the classroom and into the community. Presentation topics will address micro-transit, electric fleets, transit equity and vehicle maintenance programs, just to name a few.
